Fascial Connection
Renew Physical Therapy uses Myofascial Release (MFR) and Craniosacral Therapy (CST) to address fascial restrictions related to tongue-ties. Fascial restrictions caused by tongue ties, anywhere from the jaw, to the neck, all the way down to the toes, need to be addressed in order to have a good outcome with a tongue-tie release. MFR and CST are safe and effective hands-on techniques that combine sustained pressure on the soft tissues with traction to the fascia. This sustained pressure can be applied either externally or internally. MFR and CST results in softening and lengthening (release) of the fascia, as well as the breaking down of scar tissue or adhesions between skin, muscles, and bones. As the fascia and surrounding tissue release, other contiguous structures can then move more freely; thus restricted motion is then restored. This results in increased flexibility, function, and often strength. For best outcomes with a tongue-tie release, therapy is recommended both before and after the procedure.
