Courtney Young
MA, CCC-SLP
Courtney is a speech-language pathologist (SLP) who graduated with her M.A. in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Northern Colorado in 2021. Although she’s a Colorado native, she spent her childhood years in Boise and recently moved back to the Gem State with her husband and two teenage daughters and they are excited to get settled into their new home and “mini-farm” in Eagle!
Although Courtney has worked primarily with pediatric clients since becoming a speech therapist, she completed her clinical fellowship year at a subacute rehabilitation hospital in Denver which specializes in helping adults recover from stroke and other acquired brain injuries and she is a certified VitalStim ™ therapy provider for adults with dysphagia.
She recently received her TOM (Trained Orofacial Myologist) credential from the Chatterton Myoprogram and she has enjoyed learning how to combine myofunctional therapy with speech therapy interventions to improve outcomes for children with speech impairments. Courtney especially loves treating clients who have lisps and / or difficulty with the R sounds.
Before becoming a therapist, Courtney worked as a teacher of English as a second language to refugees and asylum seekers both in the United States and in Oxford, England where she and her husband lived for seven years. She received her B.A in English Studies in 2007 and an M.Sc. in Applied Linguistics from Oxford University in 2009 then took several years off from work to raise her daughters.
Outside of work, Courtney loves exploring local restaurants and bars, singing karaoke (badly), doing anything artistic with her kids and horseback riding with her husband.
